The Bently Nevada Velomitor piezoelectric velocity sensor is designed to measure absolute vibration (relative to free space) on bearing housings, or bearing housing or structural vibrations. The 330500 is a dedicated piezoelectric accelerometer with a solid-state design and integrated electronic components.Since the 330500 integrates solid-state electronic components and has no moving parts, there are no mechanical issues. It can be mounted vertically, horizontally, or at any other angle.
Most common machine faults (such as imbalance, misalignment, etc.) occur on the rotor. Rotor vibration increases (or at least changes) due to such faults. For any individual housing measurement, the entire machine system must consistently combine a significant amount of rotor vibration, or the installation location of the sensor.
Additionally, it is important to mount the accelerometer sensor on the bearing housing or machine housing. Improper installation may reduce the amplitude and frequency response of the sensor or produce erroneous signals that do not represent the actual vibration. Please refer to the relevant manuals and application notes as needed.
