The T8231C module provides the "master" interface between the Inter-Module Bus (IMB) in the Controller Chassis and the Expander Bus. It enables the integration of multiple chassis systems using UTP cable connections while preserving the fault-tolerant, high-bandwidth capabilities of the IMB. The module ensures fault containment for the Expander Bus, the module itself, and the IMB in the Controller Chassis, effectively localizing faults and maximizing system availability. Featuring fault tolerance through HIFT TMR architecture, it offers comprehensive diagnostics, monitoring, and testing to quickly identify faults. Additionally, the module supports hot standby and spare slot configurations, allowing both automatic and manual repair strategies to ensure continuous system operation.
